Before you go

What's worth knowing

Getting to Queule

  • We depart from Avenida Costanera 260, Queule.
  • Queule is in the commune of Toltén, La Araucanía Region, about 30 km from Nueva Toltén.
  • From Temuco, La Araucanía airport (ZCO): about 130 km.
  • From Valdivia, Pichoy airport (ZAL): about 80 km.

Fishing licence

  • A recreational fishing licence is mandatory in Chile (Law 20.256) and is enforced by Sernapesca.
  • You get it online in minutes: daily, monthly and annual options, foreigners included.
  • We send you the link and the step-by-step once the trip is confirmed.

What to bring

  • We provide the tackle: rods, reels, lures and bait are all included.
  • Bring a waterproof layer, a windbreaker, a hat, polarised sunglasses with UV filter, sunscreen and non-slip footwear.
  • If this is your first time at sea, consider preventive seasickness medication.

Weather and conditions

  • It rains much of the year here and that is part of the scenery: rain does not cancel a trip.
  • What does cancel it is the sea state or a port closure by the maritime authority.
  • Days at sea demand some tolerance for the boat's movement.

If the sea will not let us out

The Pacific decides. If the maritime authority closes the port or the sea state does not allow a safe departure, the trip is rescheduled for another day at no cost. We do not put to sea with doubts.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous experience?

No. The trip is designed both for those who have fished for years and for anyone wanting their first day of salmon fishing at sea. The guide sets up the tackle, teaches the cast and works with you all day.

What does the rate include?

The CLP 360,000 is for the whole boat, not per person, and includes all the tackle. Up to three anglers come aboard and the boat is never shared with anyone else.

Do I need a fishing licence?

Yes, it is mandatory in Chile (Law 20.256) and enforced by Sernapesca. You get it online in minutes, with a daily option and one for foreigners too. We send you the step-by-step once the trip is confirmed.

What if it rains?

We still go out: it rains much of the year here and it is part of the scenery. What does cancel the trip is the sea state, and in that case it is rescheduled at no cost.

Can I keep what I catch?

Chinook, yes: it is an introduced species and Sernapesca allows three per angler per day with no weight limit. With native species the guide will tell you on the spot.

When is the best time to come?

The season runs from 15 September to the end of March. Tell us the date that suits you and we confirm availability; departure time is set by the day's tide.
